I'd imagine so, too. FWIW, his is a '62, mine is a '65 (in the neck, with a relatively recent bridge pickup), and mine sounds like his, pretty much.

I have but two comments:

1) Make sure you locate the toggle far enough up the horn so that you never hit it when you strum;
2) On mine at least, the original 60s neck pickup sounds incredible, like a good 60s strat. I personally wouldn't give that tone up for any "Dimarzio" thing. But that's me ...

IIRC, putting the toronado bridge on was not a completely trivial matter, there was more to it than just using a screwdriver. Which right there puts it beyond my personal capabilities, sad to say.

If the AVRI fits, then the Classic Player trem should fit too. As long as you're changing, I'd suggest you consider that one.
If you put the proper spring under the screw-in CP trem arm, the arm will stay where you put it.

Just because something is rare doesn't mean I necessarily want to be playing it.
I would get the one I thought I'd rather play, personally.

If you want hotter, Classic Player Jaguar single coil pickups are supposedly wound hotter than vintage or AVRI.
Some people don't like them, but maybe those are the people who don't think a Jaguar should have hotter than vintage pickups. Other people seem to like them just fine. I can't pass ...

It's just a Mustang. Fender's student/entry guitar for the wealthier young teenagers, those whose parents sprung the bit extra $$ for that one instead of the ones without tremelo. These were certainly fair game for modding back in the day ...

I have to say, I think the teal-colored one is attractive. I personally prefer the pickups and switch colors to contrast the pickguard, but whatever.
