Are you sure you can substitute the 182L with the 546? Just the mere fact that they are both transistors doesn't mean they both will work. Has anyone successfully built with this substitution? Just a thought.

If you aren't using a dc jack, the red lead of the battery clip goes to the 9v on the board. Power for the LED would have to go there also (with a resistor in between). The black lead of the battery clip goes to ring of the input jack.

You can try thinner solder if your iron isn't hot enough. Thicker solder and a iron that isn't hot enough can be hard to work with.

This tells me you probably have the input jack wired wrong. Battery negative goes to Ring, circuit ground goes to Sleeve, and Tip goes to the switch. I think you have the jack lugs mixed up.

The best way to get results is to post pictures (good ones) of both sides of your boards and the layouts you used. That way people can check your work.

It really couldn't be the switch or jacks. It seems to work fine when engaged.
The switch is just a momentary switch so it wouldn't work just one way and not the other. It doesn't have an alternate state.
If it was the jacks, it wouldn't work in both bypass AND when engaged.

It MAY be a loose wire but if it only happens in bypass, I doubt it. Sounds like an issue with the flip-flop switching and/or it's JFET transistors. Might just be a loose component.

Try the pedal all by itself just to make sure it's really that pedal and try different cables while the other pedals are unplugged from it as suggested.

I tried it with a Soldano Astroverb, Korg/Vox AC30, and a '85 JCM 800 2203 just for reference.
It may sound better with other amps. On mine I hated it and, of course, that's my personal taste.
