I would consider a mini humbucker, it has a smaller footprint on the smaller body and there are literally tons of good ones out there. I'd get a vintage wind, nothing too hot. I'm not really picky about the year. What you have right there will be just fine. I'm making my own neck with a custom 23" scale (it's what I'm used to in short scales) so the body template with the routs will be more than enough.
