I too am totally obsessed with these... I currently have a Sonic Blue Squier JM, a Vintage White JMJM, and and currently working on a Surf Green Jag... You simply cannot go wrong with these, even at retail price they are an amazing value!

I think this is my dream shortscale. Perfect color, perfect aging, perfect pickup arrangement.

Thanks... I love when the color ages like this too... I have a nearly NOS/mint '66 Duo-Sonic (The one in my avatar) and it's an awesome guitar, but I like these 2 Musicmasters ...

Pots dated 66 on later guitars is not uncommon, I've read that Fender made a TON of pots in 66 and used them for several years, way up into the early 70s in some cases. I'm slightly wary of minty vintage guitars. a guitar worn to hell from someone playing it is direct evidence that it's a good guitar. it never would have been played so much if it was a dud!

Exactly. I like guitars that have lots of age and wear too, but the fact remains that a mint one would be worth more money, and a much rarer find. I have both types in my collection, and to be honest the worn ones are the best players... and as mentioned, more fun to play without worry of harming ...
