Had my eye on a TC Electronics Nova Repeater for a while now. That should fit the bill. Clean as a whistle (When you want it to be) and it won't self-oscillate at any setting. If you want to step up in features the Nova Delay has presets which is handy but for quite a bit more dosh, obviously.

A cable that locks into your guitar is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Its on the stand and you trip over the cable the guitar is heading for the floor. You're on stage and your numbnuts singer steps on the cable and the tiny screws holding that socket into the guitar get ripped right out ...

While the picking dynamics thing is fine for funk rhythm stuff, it's a bit of a one trick pony. There's no option to have it free running off an LFO unfortunately ...

Maybe I'm just not buying into the whole design aesthetic thing but that headstock is bloody hideous.

What I don't really like is when I see a Squier bass with the logo covered or sanded off. Two bands I've seen the bassist had a Vintage modified Jazz and the "squier" logo was gone. Kinda bugged me. If you've got a good instrument, don't be ashamed it's a squier or whatever.

If it sounds good, it obviously doesn't matter what's being played. I saw a funk band some time ago where the guitarist was using a Line 6 Spider - it still sounded good and he copped the requisite AC30 sound that every Milwaukee band must have.
