First vids I found of the new MIJ Bass VI. The verbiage just says it's the new one. No real comments about it..

After the announcement and pics reaching my reading eyes, I've actually started thinking about picking up a CIJ Bass VI while taking a trip to Japan later this year with the wife , given that they make plenty to go around.

I love the regular hellcats, the jag trem and department store styled pickups really do it for me.

The problem is those cheap-o Duncan-Designed (rather than REAL Duncan) pups are just horrible. Muddy-sounding, poorly defined ...

I might be the only person in the world who thinks real Bass VIs are really ugly (I much prefer the Baritone Jag, just give it an inch and a half and there you have a perfect VI bass), but this Hellcat is really ugly.

That said, it probably sounds awesome.

Fender Japan will release a Fender Bass VI in early 2012. It will only be available in Japan though. Probably can be imported anywhere though with extra tariffs, shipping, duties, customs, etc. Lists around US$1,600 or so.

The last wave of MIJs in the 90's weren't so great. So time will tell if ...

Schecter has told us as well that GHS (IIRC) has also agreed to make strings for their VI style instruments as well. There shouldn't be much of an issue getting strings for these.

It's Ernie Ball who will be making the strings. Though, I can't believe they will be the same high-quality and low ...
