There's also the Am. Special Mustang. I think it's been discontinued, but you can probably find a used one.

Update: I've cut a new pickguard and replaced the trem. I picked up a rusty '66 Mustang trem unit on ebay for $30, bathed it in vinegar and cleaned it up etc. This trem is much more stable than the CIJ one, and even the sustain is improved.

Generally, the Japanese necks and neck pockets are a little wider, so a non-Japanese neck would probably be a little smaller width-wise. Just thought I'd mention that.

Pretty much agree with everyone above - pickguards and covers look off, price tag is ridiculous.

Maybe I've gotten too used to the the shortscale crowd, but how comes everywhere else the Jaguar seems to be considered a 'grown up' guitar in spite of it's short scale, while the Mustang still seems ...

Nah, not really unless you find there is excessive noise. Unlikely if compared to the single coil.

...if I'm installing a set of hot rails in a Mustang, do I need any sort of shielding or grounding in the cavities? I'm not exactly sure if this is just for the single coils or not. Any info would be great. Thanks!

The positions would be something like this:

It also depends on the guitar. If it's a Fender, Japanese necks are usually a little wider than American necks.

Yeah, they definitely don't sound like the same band that wrote 'I Am One' or 'Cherub Rock' here. I've only made it to the third song, but mostly clean tones so far.
