Heavy? Well, it IS a bass guitar. It's not as heavy as the Classic 60's Jazz Bass I used to have.

I was gonna say... it's heavier than most guitars, sure... but relative to many basses, it's not bad at all. I think the heaviest i've owned is a 70's MiA Peavey T-40. The heaviest i've played ...

My old Power-pop band played with Shonen Knife a few years ago. They were SO amazing.

It looks like a Ferrington body with an after market Maple neck. The quality is janky, so i cant see what's written on the headstock, but it looks like they just used a more Fendery Kramer bass' neck.

I've been wanting to do a JagStang or Cyclone bass build for a while now, and this is really good inspiration.

I sold off all my Fender/Squire short scale basses... but a project bass would be awesome... I think it'd be rad to try to ...

I can't tell from the picture if you have 34" scale strings in there, or not... but short scale (30") strings have always fit in the tuning peg holes of the couple musicmaster basses i've owned.

I put a Di'Marzio Hot Rails in a '78 Musicmaster, and it was one of the best basses i've ever owned ...

That's a Phase 2, right? IIRC, Phase 1 and 2 had the P90s and rosewood fingerboards, but Phase 1's had the plastic glued-on logo and they changed to that awesome printed Logo in '71 with the Phase 2.

Mine's a Phase 3... i'm a sucker for Maple fingerboards. I just ...

The only Gibson bass i've ever owned was a Victory Artist! It'e the 2 pickup version of that Victory.

I can dig a well done silverburst.

Way back when, i had this record by an Indonesian garage rock band, and the bassist's P bass had this Silverburst look to it (i'm pretty sure it was just sunburst with a bad camera from the 60's)... but i've always wanted to do a warmoth muted silverburst P ...

That's disheartening... BUT, good to know, none the less.

I played it with the Gretsch pickups this past Saturday, and it sounded well enough.

But, I'm still going to be trying the original pickups over the next few days. So we'll see how that goes.

That bass is fantabulous! Did these come with the old school p-bass bridge ashtray, or is that an add-on? What kind of pickups would have come stock? And what's the scale length?
