Re: NBD (for real this time): Fender Standard Precision Bass

Congrats! Black pickguard looks great. I have the J bass version of this and that was the first thing I changed, hah. Hope you get lots of good use out of it!

Re: NGD: Mosrite-like from Amazon

Dillon, all your pics say "content not viewable in your region", probably Imgur. Can you repost as attachments?

Ah yes, I forgot about that. Fixed. I don't normally use the uploader as that means full size photos. But I also forgot that it resizes to fit the screen.

Started looking at it ...

NGD: Mosrite-like from Amazon

I don’t know how Amazon’s algorithms for recommending things work, but it sure is good about finding things it knows I don't need but won't resist. Like this.

I can’t believe you can buy this brand new for that price ($164 US). It could use some fret dressing (edges are rough) and a good setup ...

Free Levy's straps

Edit: I got an email saying this was a pricing error. The website has now been updated to show the correct price. Supposedly I'll still get my order, but I've read that other people got a different email saying the order was cancelled.

PSA for those in the US, Levy's is clearing out a handful of ...

Re: Stew Mac offset kits on sale

Well, it seems they sold out, so I guess now you don't have to decide to pick one up or not :? Anyway, I started working on smoothing out the body. I intended to only do that for the spots that I felt really needed it, but as I got started I decided ehhh, might as well do it rigth. Pictures don’t ...

Re: Stew Mac offset kits on sale

Well, it came, and for the money, I'm not at all disappointed. It even includes strings  Naturally the electronics and hardware are about as cheap as possible, but the build quality is pretty solid. My only complaint is that I wanted to stain it instead of paint it, but probably won't, seeing ...

Stew Mac offset kits on sale

PSA for those in the US: Stew Mac has a couple complete JM/Jag style kits on sale for $100. I bought this one, so this is sort of a placeholder thread for now. A simple, hardtail offset with a mahogany body and a 24 9/16” scale (weird number but I like it) for that price was just too enticing for me ...

Re: Choose my next adventure

Wow, a Terminator! That was my first "real" guitar, but I think mine might have been an even shorter scale. Since you're not all that interested in working on it, if you want to sell it, let me know (although the cost of shipping might be as much as it's worth )

Anyway, I'm gonna vote St ...

Love the color you chose. This is shaping up to be a real beauty.

Re: N(O)GD - Ibanez Roadstar II

Been a while...life has been kinda strange, and in a way that includes this thing's story.

Not long after my last post, I learned that the former mentor I mentioned had passed away unexpectedly. I'm not in touch with any of his family, so I don't even know what happened. It's bizarre to think that ...

Re: N(O)GD - Ibanez Roadstar II

Haha, I don't think I was anticipating the swimming pool route to be quite so swimming pooley.

 As I recall, from the factory it was routed only for the bridge pickup. I had no templates or anything else to do a proper route for a middle or neck pickup. I'm convinced the hole exposing the ...

Re: N(O)GD - Ibanez Roadstar II

What kinda bucker would you give it, if you find the guard? I’d be tempted to do one of those P90 style or a Surf 90 / Dream 90 maybe.

I was thinking something with a split pole WRHB look. And I found the original pickguard. But...

N(O)GD - Ibanez Roadstar II

The "O" for "old", and not just because it's old. I'm getting my old guitar. Story time.

As a kid just getting into working on guitars, a mentor had a high end Ibanez Roadstar II. I loved it. My parents knew that, and I got one as a surprise Christmas gift.

It is---or at least was---an RS110 ...

Re: pictures of your guitars here

Stuck some new tuners on the old faithful, as the old ones were struggling a little. These were what I had lying around to upgrade my squire strat’s stock tuners but kinda needed to sort this guitar out ready for gigging duties.

Not doing too bad after 17 years

That guitar should've come with ...

If you're gonna have a PRS, that might be the best one you could have

My Dad has a PRS, and it’s undeniably a great guitar, it plays very very well. Really like the gold top.

Thanks, and yeah, it's lovely to play. Lots of PRS haters out there and I understand why. The man himself has long ...

Re: pictures of your guitars here

Started reading this thread from the beginning and it's amazing how many photos are still up. Seeing things like Yun's name with the Wangcaster still in his sig...what a throwback.

Anyway, I didn't think this warranted an NGD thread since I know there's not much PRS love here. But I saw this on FB ...

Looks great! The color of the maple neck in that picture matches perfectly. Any interest in selling the Warmoth body? I've been wanting to try an Mustang again.

Re: Reverb you bitch!!!

Nice. I also had no idea Squier made a model with these kinds of specs. Anyway, dunno about Fender/Squier, but I have an Epiphone with a USED stamp and from what I've read, for that guitar it means it was either 1) a not-for-sale display model or 2) a b-stock guitar, i.e. it was sent back to Epi ...

Re: pictures of your guitars here

There were two official runs I've seen in catalogs / price lists. The earliest had a Standard and Deluxe model, with the only difference being body material as far as I know. (Oddly, the Standard was walnut while the Deluxe was mahogany. Would expect the opposite nowadays). Both were exclusively ...

Re: pictures of your guitars here

Link goes to a blank page for me :( Anyway I asked because I have a "The Paul" from the same period, a close relative. It came with a harmonica bridge which was also corroded, although not that badly. Took a lot of searching to find something to retrofit.

More to the point, seeing your Sonex kinda ...
