I recently sold this one. I think it had about 9 pieces of wood in the body. I never saw a burst on such crappy looking wood. Single coil HB in the neck, strat mid(or viseversa), and a Humbucker from I don't know what with lefty neck..

only thing i'm aware of that fender did with string through before the 90's was tele deluxes, customs (?), and strat hardtails in the 70's. no shortscales that i know of.

i do know that my mustang barely fit inside my strat case, so maybe your case is actually a regular one that housed a tele or ...

I had a 75 Pbass I bought in 1979 for $250.00. Parted it out on e-bay and made about $1300.00 on it. They're worth more in pieces.

I've never had a problem with RR and I've gotten quite a bit of paint from him. Never got an order confirmation or replies to e-mails. I place an order and the shit just shows up in a timely fashion.

Could possibly be the nut isn't cut proper for the string size? I had a problem where the high E and the B string were making a weird vibration and I replaced the nut, problem solved. Maybe loose truss rod? Just a couple suggesttions.

Shrunk is good. Avoid drilling holes in vintage wood. Some old Strat guys actually look for shrunken guards.

If that finish is just harry homeowner urethane, THE best thing (and quickest) you can do is sand it. I love that stuff. You can even leave some in the pores as filler. Truly. It's not ...

My parts JS. NoHo body, 69 mustang neck, SD 59JM bridge pup, Fender Japan mustang neck pup. Pic is just after it was assembled. It now has a mustang neck w/brass nut. I put the 69 neck back on my 69 stang.
