Just a head's up for anyone who has been considering one of the recent Fender Mustangs in Shell Pink. Fender is no longer making them and there are no foreseeable plans to make more.
There are a few retailers that still have them, but they are dwindling.

I usually prefer Pure Nickel strings on my guitars (you may like other types) and Pyramid Classics are often on many of them, but there are others that I also like that are not as expensive.

I am not sure about the pickup rings either which is why they aren't screwed down on the corners.

I would like to know. How is the tuning stability with light gauge strings? I have a few cheaper short-scale guitars with a fixed bridge that play wonderfully and sound great. But they become out of tune very easily with 009 or 008 gauge(with heavier strings I do not know because I use 009 mostly ...

Look under the pickguard...pure shite for us; notice the mistake corrected with a piece of wood glued-in? Wouldn't even trust the neck pocket construction as a platform; not bad for kids just thinking they wanna learn.

I reckon I'm gonna grab one of these after Christmas and give it a spin for the Beige Palace album sessions (starting 29/01!). Gonna give it to a local tech who took my EB3 (which was practically unplayable when I bought it off some bloke in... Rochdale maybe?) and set it up to play like buttah ...

Wow that maple fingerboard with the pink shell is very nice. Have you thought about swapping the pickup covers?

Well, I got my replacement today and it's 6lbs 15oz. Everything looks good. No flaws. Won't get a chance to set it up until the weekend. Will do a NGD and NBD together with the Mustang PJ bass.

These are fantastic amps. I snagged a 15 a while back and I really love it's sound and flexibility.

The second one is on its way! The weight is the same 12.7lbs - I hope they aren't sending me the one I returned ;-) I wouldn't put it past Musician's Friend.

I love the neck profile. They call it Slim Taper D and it is similar to some of my Epi SGs that I own. It's got substance but not at all bat-like. I'm ready to mod another.

I've had really good luck with MIM QC.
The selector switch on my Orange MIM Duo-Sonic needed a little squirt of CAIG but has worked flawlessly ever since I re-strung it on the first day which has been over a year now.

Yikes, that sanding/shaping is terrible. I'd return it too.

You can fix the MIM switch problems with a little bit of CAIG but I typically just put a new and better quality switch in them.

Good luck on the next one if you decide to get another one. I think you should be able to see any sanding ...

As far as the Special Edition sticker. I talked to Fender about it and it appears that the Shell Pink was initially going to be a FSR / Special Edition color but is now available to any retailer and the color is shown on the Fender website.
