Recent Solo Set I Did

Post by Bacchus »

There's a little bit of a noise/experimental scene starting to take shape in Exeter. I played a quick set as part of an all dayer type thing where we took over the upstairs of a local craft beer bar. Good times. Looking like it might become a monthly thing.

Anyway, here it is:

I have been trying to explain to the guys that I am currently playing with what creating a "soundscape" is like, and this is a great video to show them sort of what I mean.
around the 5:15 mark I feel the "swell" and the excitement sort of come to a head.
just before 10 mins the sputter kicks and growing swell almost give me the idea that one "part" or section has ended and feels like its going away, but right around 10:50 the rapid spurts remind me of grinding gears trying to kick a machine back on.
11:45 the violin line decline, and volume drop is lovely.
by 12:30 I almost can't tell if there is anything going on, but its that perfect "zone out drone out" pitch from there on out.
I really enjoyed this. thank you.

That was great. Reminded me of electronic ambient stuff like Biosphere or Gas, but from a different instrumental angle. A sense of rhythm and timing through the whole piece which I think is one of the more difficult things to do in experimental music.
