Not done one of these for ages, but prompted by Timbo doing his up there, I followed the clarion call of "Tims: assemble".
From left to right: homemade (from big, guitar-shaped bits) Thinline baritone tele, Edwards 335, AVRI Jazzmaster, MJT tele.

Yeah love that colour combo on the Jazzmaster. What's the MJT tele? Did you buy the parts and put it together. Is it from this guy, as some of these are very tempting!

Yep yep - thread
here. The whole process was great fun, and they're lovely. Better spec than a Fender, better standard of finish and service than Warmoth. Will get a strat from them next.
Switched the guard out for a white one (dropped a blob of solder on the other one, and wasn't keen on the finish on it anyway) but think it'd look better with a mint one, on balance.

l-r: Hondo Lead II copy which is my go-to guitar for pedal testing and messing around at the moment- does awesome out of phase sounds, musima elgita, tele thinline, EGC custom. I'm trying lots of different pedals at the moment. The memory boy has some nice feedbacky settings. I've been playing with autowahs and the Snow White is the best, although the Q-tron and Proteus are also cool. When Sailplanes gig as a three-piece I might break-out a bigger amp, so kinda glad I didn't sell the bandmaster.

Looking good! Love that Musima guitar....hope you're enjoying the Memory Boy

here's my TWO (count 'em) non-shortscales.
the SG200 still needs a bit of tweaking but it's a lovely guitar. i still giggle inwardly on occasion when i think about how cheap it was. it feels like it should have cost 5 times as much.

Blacktop jazzy with Duncans and Robroe covers
Handmade, nitro finished, lefty tele custom. then I ruined it and flipped so I had a righty. Three way switch and master volume.

it's a GFS tele. The body is super cheap. I'm actually not a fan of it all. Currently it's got a Peavey T15 neck on it, so it's a shortscale pink esquire. The neck is SUPER thin though, so I never play it.

Sooo... it's here. It's very nice. I've never owned a Gretsch before but I've played one of the lower end ones and was very, very impressed by it. This isn't as nice but it's also not really comparable as it's quite a different beast, and I assume that the difference also leads to a fair amount of compromise. So, first thing's first, the bad bit: the neck is rather disappointing, but I knew it would be from the reports. It's a bolt-on, that's fine. But I would happily pay a few pounds more for thumb markers and neck binding, even if the back was left in the satin finish. So it's mostly aesthetics rather than playability that annoy me.
And.. that's it. Overall it's a gorgeous guitar and that sparkle is really nice in person. I paid £300 for it as it was ex-demo, but it's absolutely spotless apart from dust on the headstock. The strings are floppy and massively poofy. As soon as the proper Bass VI strings and the Vibramate string spoiler arrive they're coming off to make way for BASS TIME. Haven't plugged it in yet, either, so I have no idea how the thing sounds and I've heard conflicting reports on these cheaper Chinese pickups. Some people LOVE them. Others don't. I do love the ones on the other Gretsch I've played which are identical, but switching down to bass is going to make a rather huge difference so we'll see. I probably will upgrade them to some smokin' hot GFS filtertrons, though. I might also upgrade the bridge, but I'm wondering whether to go to Wilkinson roller, like I do with every other guitar, because the added tension might immobilise it, making it useless, or even apply enough pressure to kill the rollers. I dunno, I'll see when the strings get here.

Lovely guitar - I'd have bought one of those, if it came along at the right time. One of the few baritones that come set up for E-E as standard, too. That being said, I've always found B-B (or A-A if you must be macho about it) much more rewarding. Also, is it just the aesthetics of the neck that you didn't like?

Pretty much, it's just a bit sad that it doesn't fit as well visually with the rest of the range. Otherwise it feels fine and it plays nice. I've had a few satin-neck Squiers so that bit doesn't bother me at all the way it does for others.
This actually came B-B. I think that might be because Fender have discontinued Bass VI strings (which seems rather stupid when they mass-produce a 30" baritone like this..). I've seen most reviews across the net stating that they received it tuned E-E but that appears to have changed now as a minority have stated that they received it in a baritone tuning with lighter strings too. But I've ordered some La Bella Hellcat VI strings as well which I think should fit. Although I'm sort of crossing my fingers because I think there might be a shorter distance between the Hellcat stop tail and the nut than there is between the bigsby pin and the nut on the Gretsch.
