I love the mega-gained sound I did the Lightning Bolt riff with- it's pretty noisy, but if you're playing constantly, it's no prob.

haha yeah, it descends into madness at that point but it's definitely a unique sound.

Lots of high-charting artists used it in the '90s, Dimebag Darrell and Billy Corgan did Digitech ads for the Whammy II, Jonny Greenwood used it on hit singles from both The Bends and OK Computer, Korn and Bizkit used them more than actually playing guitar, etc...

It's not associated with Bellamy at all in the States. If someone accused me of Bellamy-worship for using a Whammy I'd tell them to go circuit-bend themself.

Bump. Im so getting one of these when i have the monies but Doog what do you thing of that puslar pedal?
I've been after a good tremolo for while now (sold my ultra trem 'cause of the shite bypass)
but generally quite skeptical of most EHX products. How is it?

Zero problems with it, lots of sounds, goes beyond most trems. I'll knock you up a wee audio video demo now if you want- I just so happen to have everything plugged in.

I guess there is one "problem" with the pedal- the depth knob gets to "normal full depth" sounds at 2 o'clock-ish- beyond that, it does some kooky inverse-phase-polyrhythm stuff.

While this is cool, it can make dialling in proper on/off choppy square wave sounds difficult. And even then, there's a tiny bit of fuzz in the "off" stage, as you'll hear. It's not really a problem in a live band situation though, or if you're running it with a distortion most of the time.

I do like this actually, will be looking into getting one. Just a quick question: It doesn't have that weird background noise when engaged with dirt pedals?
theres also dude in greenford selling one which isn't too far away from me.
For Â£40 not too far off store price though.

I mean it'll just be less noticeable with a dirt pedal running before it, since you'll be hearing distorted guitar anyway. It's basically only really happens when you're strumming loudly in the "gaps", sounds like it's clipping something in the pedal a bit. Can do a quick mp3 with a dirt pedal if you like.

If you mainly want truly "on/off" tremolo killswitch effect where off is PROPER OFF NO SOUND AT ALL, maybe look elsewhere. The Pulsar gets very close, but not quite.

What i meant by weird background noise is that faint spinning hum you get with some tremolos. Had this problem with the ultra trem.

Also got an email back the guy selling one on gumtree, hes seems legit and works at some studio in perivale "LOZ VEGAS STUDIOZ"

It's pretty much silent, no motorboat noises in the background or ANYTHING. Here's a sample I did you, since I happened to have a guitar in my lap, some pedals at my feet, and a mic in front of my amp:

I guess if the pedal's a bit noisy, running a distortion AFTER it will make for nasty noises. But tremolo works best after dirt, anyhoo.

I actually bought some cheap patch leads there once, they have a shop.
