Squier was the reason I could start playing Electric Guitar at all, seeing as I could get a Stratocaster at the age of 12 after saving up pocket money and birthday money for a year while I was sawing away on my Dad's old Spanish Guitar.

I bought a Squier Jazz Bass when I started playing bass and J still uses this every day in Sell Crazy - it's a solid, brilliant instrument.

Now I own a Squier Classic Vibe 60s P Bass in Sonic Blue for my own bass ventures in History Crow and I couldn't be more happy with it. It's an instrument that plays and sounds like many thrice the price.

that gig we played the other night, 3 of the bands were using some squier gear (including us). namely; a strat, one of those jazz basses with the painted blocks, a vista jagmaster and my CV precision that gav was using.

i will say that there's a huge amount of squier stuff that i probably wouldn't touch with a barge pole, but they really seem to have been hitting the nail on the head recently.

yeah, there was a bit of 'does not compute' with the OG bass player, to cut a long story short. eau de gavage is a full time member.

sadly I did not find happiness in a Squier so far, but I owned only a few and only on occasion. The first may have been a Telecaster from 80s korean production. I played a few gigs with it, but it never really convinced me. Then, after finding a good employment, I celebrated this in buying a CV Duo Sonic, nearly 2 years ago. It played wonderful, but just as the Tele, the bandmates said, it doesn't sound right. It's the only one I actually miss, the neck was so good it nearly played by itself. I tried a bullet strat, and flipped it because I didn't like it. it was not bad, but no strat player was hidden in me. The Musicmaster I got last year was a nice, funny guitar, and I used it as a backoff on gigs. But it never sounded right, so I traded it in for a Squier 51 and some addons recently. The 51 comes much closer to what I need it for, it is solid, plays good and offers some nice sounds. But somehow ... I wouldn't mind another Tele ...

First guitar I ever really played properly was my brothers white Squier strat, one of the ones with the big Fender logo and the small Squier logo. I've owned two Squiers myself as well, a CAR Stagemaster, with two humbuckers and a Floyd Rose (stolen), and a Telecaster Custom II with two P90s (also stolen). Great guitars.

When i first started playing guitar my Dad's friend gave me about 8 lessons, just to make sure I got the basics. For some reason I always used his guitar and it was a Squier Strat from the 90s that he picked up dirt cheap from a newspaper add or something. It was finished in a lovely matte daphne bluish colour, that guitar made me want a blue strat of my own. I saved up for a MIM fender strat. Not a patch on that squier

Seeing some of the new Squier models that have been coming out(particularly the Thinline Telecasters) have made me really sad to be left-handed. For the price they are an absolute steal. The only left-handed models I have been able to find anywhere are the Strats, which I'm not massively keen on anyway... Such a shame.

I do love the classic vibes so much that I've considered selling my Musicman Stingray so I can buy all three of the CV basses!

I owned a couple squiers and it's been hit or miss with me too.

'07 jagmaster - didn't like it. It looked and felt nice, but just sounded thin and cheap.

2 Tom Delonges - A green one that doesn't sound very good but is in great condition (i'm going to be selling this one very soon) and a beat to shit black one with sanded headstock, I cleaned this up cause it was dirty as fuck when I got it for free with the green one and it sounds amazing! I'm actually going to keep this one.

and an affinity strat in CAR - don't know what year it is, but it actually sounded and played really nice! I bought it with the intent of experimenting on it, but never got around to it, and times are tough right now so I will also be selling it. I got a bit ahead of myself with my experimenting plans and took it apart and just never got around to doing anything with it, so I'll probably be selling it parted out.

If I ever came across a good deal on one of the MIJ ones or even an MIK or MIM squier I would probably buy one of those, cause the quality on all the ones I've played has been pretty good, but it's hard to find good deals on them.

the late 80s korean mpdels are sometimes plywood. It doesn't mean they sound bad, it just means you may be able to talk down prices a little bit ... the necks are usually superb, and the electronics ar imported US / Japan stuff on the 88 and some 89 models.

My second guitar was a MIM Squier Affinity Strat. My friends trashed me for it, but I played it and loved the neck. It served me through a few shows. But due to a tragic mishap at a practice, I had to trash the body, but I saved the neck and put it on a my dad's Jaguar copy. I'd get another if I had room. Squier makes quality products.

squiers have definitely come a long way in terms of quality. their tendency to be just a little different from the crowd is what i like most. i wish they'd take an opposite tack from their american parent company and produce more of what their customers ask them for and lefties and everything that a more deft, agile, cost-effective manufacturer should be doing. of course, they very likely are more agile, etc because they don't dwiw. . .

I haven't had the pleasure of owning my own squier as of yet. However, I have played many that are owned by other people and I have always been impressed by the build quality and playability considering how cheap they are... All in all, amazing guitars!

Whats everbodys opinion on this...

Yea they were for a while. I've seen a couple in pawn shops around NC. Also, I think that 90's squier duo-sonic that robroe used to have was MIM.

well, I really want one. I like the gibson style humbuckers better than the widerangers. I'd like to get one and give it a tele bridge pickup like a "real" tele custom. like this:

I've never had a Squier and I really wish I could - if they offered the recent CV range in lefty I'd all over it. Guitar and bass, no question. Yet another instance of something that everyone one else loves that I can't get a piece of
