Might try a few tomorow, heading into Derby to do a few errands. Only looking to spend about £200-250 max on a bass. An affinty Jazz might even do.

TBH, I have a Musicmaster bass, with shortscale strings on it and it isn't that good for fingerstyle, not enough tension. Its ok with a pick, but a fullscale bass sounds a lot better if you are playing fingerstyle.

You won't regret getting a 34", you might regret 30".
I've not played a recent one but I would think you can do better than affinity for not much more money. There's so many great basses for just a little more that it's worth holding out, especially if you intend to have it for a long time.

I think that's about standard price, but the free shipping is nice.
That said, they're a steal at full price. Fantastic basses.
I haven't had any issues with finger playing and string tension on the Jaguar SS, though I did find my friend's old MusicMaster a bit odd to play. Not sure what the difference was.

Those are alright, but I think the Shortscale is a better bass... I mean, stacked pots?!@?
Wait, stacked pots isn't their thing is it? It's active EQ?

ok, finally stopped getting distracted by custom shop strats and cables to get this
squire VM 70's bass. plays like a fucking dream, been playing along to Herbie hannock's Headhunters this afternoon. sounds quite nice through my h&k but need to get a bass amp or at least a DI box at some point.

Good call. These are fantastic basses; I've known a few people with them over the years. They sound and play great.
SansAmp is a great thing to pick up, and if the Behrenger works just as well, there's no reason not to go with it.

I had the blue one for guitar, mega hissss sent it back for a replacement as I assumed it was faulty as I'd read noting but good things about it second one had the exact same problem, ended up buying a joyo American sound... Pretty sure I posted on here about it.
