is the tuner your split point? Or the dd-3?

think you'd be able to cover all bases with thar selection. An ocd is next on my list of pedals to check out.

Got my TS off rhys the other day, missed having one.

yeah, split at the tuner. it means to tune silently i have to engage the little kill switch, but that's no big deal. it's better than having that massive splitter i had before taking up half my board space. i don't really need the EQ on there, but it gives me a bit more flexibility with the single tone control on the MM amp.

i'd forgotten how much of a beast the OCD is on high gain, it's like being kneed in the sack by a rugby player.

Sure, these pics are in another thread, but its still relevant.

Image
New Whammy WH-1, using the deep detune (chorus) setting and the Octave setting that brings it down two steps, (two notes down, not the double drop octave)
Image
> Jag-stang(w/JB)
> Fuzz Factory (sometimes for velcro fuzz, other times just for trashy distortion)
> Whammy
> Danelectro CTO-1 Transparent OD (always on - for clean boost with a little bit of break up)
> Phase 90 (recently took this out, too much volume boost... and I realize I don't have any use)
> Boss DD-6
> Boss RC20XL Loop Station (loop some whammy-manufactured bass lines and play over them all day)
> Crate GT212 120 watt SS Amplifier.

The stereo input on the DD-6 also sends the signal to a little practice amp set up next to the drums like a moniter. Even with this cheap stereo setup the room sounds huge.

stewart do you still have an NS-2?

how does it work in terms of it's fx loop? do you stick the pedals that are noisy in that loop and anything in that loop is noise suppressed?
thinking of trying one cheap to quieten done the memory man so i can use now.

nah, i sold it. but yeah, if you've got a noisy pedal you just pop it in the loop and the NS-2 cuts in when you're not playing. the only problem with putting a delay in the loop is the danger of the repeats being prematurely clipped as the gate kicks in. i found it best to set the threshold very low so i could still get feedback when i wanted it, there's also less tone suckage that way. i kind of wish i still had it, but hey-ho.

I took a load of pictures of my Bassman over the weekend for Thom. I figured I'd stick some in here.

Inside it looks a little bit of a mish mash with parts from different eras. The main caps (filter caps?) were changed before I got it to Sprague Atoms, and when it was last serviced a few inside were changed to Spraque Orange Drops and some to Siver Micas. There are a few different types of resistor there now, too. For example next to the blue atoms you can see an original (brown cylindrical) and a replacement (the light blue indented one). Inside there are a few different types depending with the originals still within tolerance remaining and those that were quite far from where they should be replaced. After seeing how much they can change I can definitely understand why these old amps can sound different in supposedly identical models. Now it's pretty much as intended (or at least all of the parts are within +/-10% tolerance of the original circuit) and it really sounds fanatastic. I'm going to miss it like hell.

It's silly but I've been purposely playing it less. The sensible thing would be to play it more and make the most of it but the last time I played it felt like the feeling at the end of what's been quite a good relationship but you both know it has to end. You still love each other, and you can see each other's heart breaking but it's moving on is the only right thing to do. That's pretty much the perfect analogy for how I feel about this amp, though I'm not sure how it feels about me.

ihachoo
thats the cleanest i've seen one. mine looks like it was dragged through the desert and the dipped in salt water. Thats a great looking amp, and the best schematic if you ask me. Not the best for bass.
My 76 is supposedly the more sought after bassman for bass use, i'm not sure which one is worse. That you play bass through the better guitar version or that i play guitar through the better bass version.

I can imagine how it must suck to let it go but these bassman heads pop up plenty in the states and i'm sure you could find one to replace this beauty.

These ones don't. I've seen about four auctions for them (in any country) in two years and only one looked genuine and even then it had no gutshots. most were early 65 AB165 types that had a pre-CBS faceplate.

I love it for bass, but it distorts early and it's only really good for a 60s style sound. It's not that good as a modern bass amp. Well it's nice, but it's not fantastic. It's as a guitar amp that I love it. Easily my favourite guitar amp ever.

It's missing something on the modulation side of things... an Ooh Wah and Lo Fi Loop Junky will feature in the next couple of months too. Though those might be on a different board, I like the idea of having two sets of four pedals. The little VEX board and the ole faithful. I've turned into quite the VEX (pedals) fan.

Vex is making a Vexter SHO and Lo-Fi you should hold out for that ;)
The Lo-Fi is terribly over priced imo, sounds great but i wouldn't buy one at the going rate.

Vexter Lo Fi would be radcore! I'm thinking I may sell my hand painted BoR, buy a Vexter BoR and buy a painted Lo Fi.
The FF was bought for me as a present and I'm a big fan of the Vex line so I'd have no qualms about buying a painted Lo Fi. Sure, 'for what they are' they're a little bit pricey but you're paying for the R&D, artwork and life-time warranty when you're buying a painted VEX.

I'm turning into quite the fan boy to be perfectly honest. The Tremorama, Ring Tone, Wooly Mammoth, Loop Junky and Ooh Wah all appeal to me the most out of what I don't have. I use the FF like I would the Machine, BoM (metal, not Mike!) is of no use and same goes with the Octane, etc. So it looks like I have a while to go yet!

"it's too heavy" .... "but it sounds good" ... "yeah man, but it's really too heavy" ... "aaah c'mon, it sounds fun-tastic" .... "naaaah, it's too big" ... "hey, it's smaller than your Marshall stack" ... "who needs that much power?" ... "maybe no-one, but would you spend double the money on half the power?" ... ... ... well yes it's the mighty Twin Reverb, as you might have guessed. I was unsure to post them here because the usually following discussion is so predictable ;) But I just spent some €€€ on new caps and tubes and service, and whenever I turn it on, I fall in love. It sounds so fantastic.

There is nothing more important than you yourself being happy, so congratulations on your new amp.

It's one of the cornerstones of modern music for a reason - it's a Classic.

Nice Twin.

They are great amps, but are overly heavy and a bit too loud. I doubt I have ever played a gig that was not mic'd where I could have turned a twin up to 5 or 6. Most people I know that gig with them say they are lucky if they can turn it up to 3. That is the problem. No amp likes to be gigged at 2-3 on the volume. Even my super reverb was that way until i started putting a baffle in front of it...
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...
