I know this Tim, but unfortunately there was something going a jar between the pedal & my setup. Sound wise / features / aesthetically I preferred yours but I had real issue with crackling decay... especially in conjunction with my compressor. I tried all sorts to solve this but it wasn't disappearing, only slight improvements. Sadly it was something that bugged me. The pedal is now on ebay but before it goes I could do a side by side comparison and record it if you'd like to hear what I'm getting at here ?
The EH LPB-1 was cheap so i thought I'd give it a go to see if it did the same thing... it didn't, afterall I was very happy with the main content of sound coming from the wolf puppet. So I don't know what's going on. The minute differences in components ? hmmm....
Let me know if you're interested in some sound samples.

Should that have eliminated when using a battery ? I think I tried that to no avail... can't really remember as it was a while back.
Also, Should I try it with another p/supply ? Not certain what you mean by the filtering exactly so i may be off topic.
If there's an easy fix I would be happy to pull the auction and get it back on my board.

Worth subbing out the 2n5088 for a 2n3904 aswell, I have had some bad batches of 2n5088s that sound great in fuzzes and Muffs but plain bad in a Saltbooster. I now use 2n3904s in the Saltbooster with some tweaks to the input and output caps to compensate for the more bassy 2n3904 sound, timhulio wrote:Nah keep the auction running I'm just intrigued. Does it still decay in a weird way if you use a battery? I'm guessing that even this simple circuit needs some power filtering, so the supply is smooth and uninterrupted. Could be unrelated though. You might just have a dry solder joint!

got the MXR/CAE Boost today. brought it from a friend on the joe bonamassa forum. he was selling a fulltone fat boost for stupid cheap but i missed it. got this on a good deal instead. works really well with the DT, pushed the gain and volume for a great lead tone. no noise or hiss, simple and effective. excuse the carpet, i'm not using a board at the moment and the derby labour club is not the most decorative place.

Yeah... There's been this wave of cheap boutique pedal offerings up in there lately.
I missed out on a $79 Death By Audio Fuzz War, last week, wasn't gonna let this one slip me by.
Makes me wonder if a shop wasn't burglarized, or something...
