I think I've become fixated on this because it's something that Digitech should already have done.
Absolutely - I scoped out the arpeggiating shit on the Hammer On and they
completely fumbled the ball- so close, but they
fucked it.
No presets at all, and only options to programme 3, 4 and 6 note sequences (which includes the root/dry). Digitech are convinced their customer base only play waltzes and jigs, apparently.
It feels like they painted themselves into a corner with that stupid multi-colour LED (illustrating the mode), rather than anything technical; it'd need so little extra memory resource to handle that shit properly.
Also, just
look at the cunts

I thought that video was superb. I could easily have believed it was satire. Guitarbros not understanding the pedal they have, balding guy wearing a beanie to cover the fact, unnecessary Madonna/callcentre/lavalier mic.
Anyway, thinking about pedalboard stuff again has reminded me that my GAS priorities are a Zoom MS70 and a Superego+.

The landing strip soul patch is chef's kiss
The Superego+ is fucking great, and I can also recommend the never Deep Freeze in its stead if you don't really need the FX loop and built-in FX; I've had one on my board on and off, trying out bass drones in my weirdo setup, and it's
sick.
I feel like it does
pretty much all that the smaller Superego did, in half the size albeit minus
that fx loop too.

With that in mind, today was a day for some jiggery-pokery to free up a bit of space whilst I wait for EVRI to chuck a parcel over a neighbour's fence. Fuzz Factory is gone (love it, but it's not getting use). Half tempted to get rid of the ODB-3. It's not really useful for anything I do, but is so much fun to occasionally turn on and remember how much fun daft gain and daft riffs are. Thinking back to the last time I played around with this, though, I think the ODB-3 is mostly there because I didn't have a patch cable long enough to get from the PW-10 v-Wah to the Whammy. I could put the DD-3 there, but I slightly prefer having that before the wah.
Want to tidy up that little no-man's-land of power cables to the left of the iso-brick. It's sort of where I've bundled anything spare together and tied it up. That might free up a little usable space. At some point I might need to think about putting right angled plugs on the end of the expression pedal cables so that everything going into the M13 is as flush as possible. Might think about shortening them by a few feet whist I'm at it.
What I really want though, is lower profile right angle daisy chain power cables. EBS make some, but they seem to be the only game in town, and I can't seem to find them on aliexpress or anywhere else, which I find surprising. I've noticed that some of mine are lower profile than others. I think the cheapo ones I've picked up are maybe a but bulkier compared to the ones that came with the iso-brick. I've thought about making my own, and even thought about taking a file to take of some of the excess plastic on the cheapo ones, but I don't think that will work. Annoyingly, neither EBS (nor anyone else) provide dimensions for their product, so I can't really work out how much of a saving it would be.
Might just bite the bullet and get the EBS ones. It's only really critical over on that right hand side of the board with the dirt pedals and tuner. In this photo, I have the cheaper, high profile daisychain and there isn't quite room for the tuner, on account of the top mounted 9v input on the Dream Box. If I swap out that one link for a lower profile one, it fits. Possibly a lower profile chain would allow me to put the tuner right down front beside the Red Boost, too. They both have side mounted 9v inputs.
I should probably break out the hoover at some point too...

I have some EBS ones I can measure.
Such a monster board!

I've ordered some from aliexpress that look a bit less bulky than my cheapo ones. I reckon that they should come in about the same as the MXR ones. They also look to have a good bit of material that I can possibly sand/file off. Either way, I reckon they'll be less bulky than my patch cables with the Hicon pancake plugs.

Nothing will put you off ever buying a pedal again like rejigging a pedalboard.
After a day of headscratching and swearing at patch cables that definitely fucking reached the last time, it all works. And there's space for more...
Unfortunately there isnt time left in the day to actually play guitar and see what all the new setup does.

I had literally 10 minutes with it. Got up, had coffee or two, listened to a podcast whilst awaiting the EVRI delivery. Then it came around 11:30. I finished my podcast and sat down to plumb it in. Finally got it sorted and checked that it all worked and realised it was 16:30ish, and I had to shower and go to BJJ.
It sounded pretty good in those 10 minutes though? I cycled through presets, most of which were pretty great sounding representations of whatever their description was, a few were nice and mad. Will dig in properly tomorrow, or maybe over the weekend.
At some point, I reckon I'll get a couplemeters more cable (Sommer The Spirit something-or-other is what I've used for the last decade or so) and a stack more pancake plugs (I used Hicon previously, and that's what all the pancake jacks here are, but that was before aliexpress etc.) It bugs me having cables that are the wrong length, and also the odd cable being Boss or Planet Waves or whatever else random cable. Although, my signal goes through a dozen or so pedals and often sounds as unguitarey as I can get it. Possibly I shouldn't really worry about whether there's a slight attenuation in the uppermids (or whatever) injuries are suffered by having certain cables be made from cables that aren't made from adequately oxygen free copper.

What's the black pedal next to the Mikey So Dreamy?

It's a Red Llama. I think.
I had the space and a spare patch cable. I'll leave it there for now but might swap it out for a French Toast or a Cool Cat fuzz. I fancy something kinda abrasive, so can see the French Toast winning in the end.

Yep, this is cool.
Haven't sussed the app yet, and I'm starting to suspect it's iOS only, which is a bit shit. Dunno if there's some Mac OS app available. The iOS app looks brilliant (although you have to pay £0.99 for it, which seems like a pointless way to fuck off your customers).
I started with chorus effects, and to begin I was a little underwhelmed at quite how dry a lot of the effects were. I could barely discern any chorusing going on. Ten or so minutes later, I remembered that the Zoom is in the effects loop of the M13, which wasn't powered on. Needless to say, there's some plenty wet effects in there!
Will properly deep dive over the coming days, learn how the menus work, etc.

Picked up a cheap OxEAE fuzz locally. I always thought they looked a bit silly in photos, and they are annoying to try and mount to a board, but in person a beautiful object.
Sounds sick. It even has some nice lower gain clang tones, as you would expect from the Obstructures dudes.
Also swapped my broken mel9 for a phase 90.
Never had one!

How was it broken? I fancied a Mel9 or B9 at one point but could never justify the outlay.

There's a common fault where the 9-position switching pot fails. So it was stuck on the first preset (orchestra). Maybe I could have lived with it if it were cello or brass!
Couldn't be arsed sending back to EHX, could have got someone local to do it, but have to source the weird part, postage, bench fees. Didn't really seem worth it.
(I did pick up quite cheaply - and hadn't played it in years) so might not seem like a decent trade, but the math worked for me.
Blake does a lot of pedal repair, mods etc, and I didn't trust my own attempts at soldering:

OxEAE meets its grandad.

Current state of play. Need to find something that sounds similar to the PB&J that’s a bit more gig friendly, it just works so well in front of a dirty amp.

Ampless board. Huge thanks to the "cheap copies of awesome pedals" thread as I check it probably once a week when looking at gear.
