well since i'm ebaying the red bari jag, i thought i'd make a short video of it so even the don't-knowers can experience how it sounds like...

well i'm slowly losing
the fear of exposing my terrible squealy voice to the world...
doing vids is fun. now SERIOUSLY, next weekend i'll do some other ones, i.e. '75 jag, aria diamond, nady tube distortion, ibanez mostortion, ibanez fat cat, and/or other weirdos i have lying around here...

The only time I'd ever heard one (knowingly) before was some youtube video of some guy from the sixties singing and half way through the song he starts playing the Jag baritone he's been holding the whole time and plays a funny baritone solo on it. I'm pretty sure it would have been posted here. It's a strange instrument.

That'll be, variously, Glen Campbell, playing Wichita Lineman, on a Bass VI rather than a baritone jag, and it's usually me that posts it.

Dumbass question: What setup do you guys use to make demo vids--what kind of camera, how far away from the amp, etc? If someone can help me sort that shit out, I will demo a few new guitars, the mando, and the Rickenbacker (before I sells it).
I tried filming with one camera and the amp distorted such that I almost couldn't hear anything. I don't want to record directly into GarageBand, but I suppose I could make one video track and a supplemental audio track (and doctor the file to match what I hear).

Yup, that's what I do.
Setup a mic next to the amp and run that into the computer through my audio interface. Record that track in Sonar (you can use Garageband/Audacity). At the same time I record the video in teh webcam's software.
Then I splice the .wav audio and webcam video together in Windows Movie Maker. It's tedious and soul destroying, but it works.

well i used my not-so-glamorous digital cam (sony DSC-W55 is sez on it) on video setting and just like that. i know shit about editing and recording programs... unfortunately.

I think that would ruin me, editing in movie maker is awful at the best of times. I have to use sonar for the audio to stop myself from sitting in the corner and rocking back and forth while gently weeping.
Well not that far, but it's pretty awful.

Well my second audio source for chatter is the camera audio itself and I can't get access to that in Sonar because it .wmv or some shit.

The perfect demo setup would be a camera with two XLR inputs.
Talky mic and Ampy mic with some way of monitoring the levels.
Cameras with XLR inputs are rather expensive though.
