So I'm trying to build a 4 way switch assembly for my Tele from scratch. It's the 1st time for me to do this, because usually when changing pups it's just to look where they were soldered to before ...

In this diagram http://www.seymourduncan.com/images/sup ... le_4ws.jpg it says I need to disconnect the neck pup cover from the pups ground and install a separate ground. What is this? Do I need to cut the small solder bridge on the underside of the pup - this?



overall it looks quite ugly. What is the trick that makes ground wires stick better on the pots? Should I have sanded the pot surface before?

what i do on getting them to look good on the pots is twist up all the wires you want to ground, than melt a good size amount solder on the pot. take off the knob before you do this and just go with the flow. when you heat up the pot until the solder starts to 'melt' onto the back, just stop it and then use some pliers or something on the pot to act as a heat sink to cool it down faster.

edit: problem solved ... and it was a rather stupid one (the "palm" kind of)

Now the only problem I have is that the Bridge-only-position is the same as the parallel-position. Looking at the diagram I find this plausible, because the neck pickup is always connected to hot, if I get it right. But that seems rather useless somehow.

Someone can help with this?

Sorry to bump this post but did you ever find out what was wrong with the wiring for this?

I've got exactly the same problem in that when on the bridge pickup, you're getting both pickups in parallel and not just the bridge by itself.

Any help would be awesome!
