My Mutt Fender Strat

I've had this CIJ '68 RI neck for about 10 years now, and it's my favorite ever.
I swear I've had it mounted to at least 4 different black strat bodies over the years.
Currently it's strapped to a black Roadworn 50's body.....I think this will be the last one.
I love the way these bodies feel and they just continue to look better and better the more you use it.
It's evolved even since these pics were taken over a year ago.
Neck: CIJ '68 RI
Body: MIM 50's Roadworn
Pickups: Fender CS '57/'62
Bridge: AVRI

Didn't get along with the road worn neck or did you pickup the body used?

Got a "used" RW body from the Stratosphere guy on Ebay.
The previous body was a Highway One strat body, which has the same thin-nitro finish, but w/o the skid marks.
Loved that one too, but the deal on this particular body was too good to pass up.
Sold the H1 body and it was like a $25 upgrade for me. So glad I did it, but would have been fine with the H1.

I played an MIM roadworn Tele at Best buy. I love used guitars but they sanded off too much neck finish for my taste. They even bent the shaft on the high E tuner for effect.

The couple of complete Roadworn Strats that I've played have been really nice.
If I didn't have this amazing '68 RI neck I'd probably own a RW Strat.
I wish they would have made a black RW 70's strat. Love the big headstock.

I love those '68 CIJ Strats, my friend in school had one. The neck is indeed fantastic, the MIM 70's classics are very similar and I have a mutt strat with one of those (rosewood board version), just because I wanted that "titchy D" profile. It's perfect for my hands.

Looking sharp!
I've said it plenty, but I really do love my CIJ '68, and I concur: the delightfully thin neck is a refreshing shift from nearly most of my lot, which I enjoy heaps. When recording jingles and pop tunes, there really isn't anything more suitable for me than a Strat, and my left hand always seems to be the more comfy of the two as long as it's going on.

Yep, it's the most comfortable neck I've ever owned. Soft-C shape?
...and pretty narrow at the nut.
