It's a tenor!

Only knock off Mustang shape I can find and it's a tenor.
Anyone use one? What do they do? Is it like a light bass? It's an Airline.

Fender should retro engineer one of these do they can work out the secret technology of cutting pickguards to fit their Mustang Pawn....

I play a tenor, but not one of these. Mine's an 8-string and I built it myself
. It's a mid-range voice that fits nicely in the mix and doesn't walk over the other instruments, mostly with Celtic, Irish and folk tunes. You could use it in rock I suppose, but it would take better skilz than I possess. I built mine acoustic-electric for a reason, and it does not sound good overdriven (which a blade pup can easily do). To each his own. Mine's a 23" scale BTW,

They filled a role more akin to banjo, slightly higher than standard guitar, tuned differently (usually CGDA).
They had a brief period of popularity in the early-mid 1900s, but, aren't so common these days. A few people do use them, though, mostly in the singer/songwriter, folk and bluegrass areas.
