As some of you may know ... I've been looking at a metal type guitar for sh!ts & giggles.

I seen this whilst searching for other Tokai's....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tokai-Custom- ... 1028wt_420

I like the layout and simplicity... and they seem to fairly non existent elsewhere on the web.

I'm wondering what you guys think of the surface cracks ???

It looks to me like simple crazing and nothing deep / body related... but wanted to get a second opinion. Could this be Nitro finish ?

Thinking about putting in a cheeky offer.

thanks
Owen

I can't offer anything really productive apart from saying I love it, might not pay what they're asking for it but it looks pretty tidy.

They've been trying to sell that for a while now. I've seen it listed a couple of times recently with no sale. Unfortunately I can't remember what it didn't sell for and ebay has changed the way they show completed listings so it doesn't show up there either. I can't be sure but I think it didn't sell (or the listing was cancelled) when it was £175. I don't think it's exactly the model they say, either.

I only mention that because you'd want to know what you're likely to be able to get for it if you bought it and wanted to sell it for whatever reason.

I have no experience with that guitar, but I would not pay 400 dollars for it because it is ugly and disgusting. horrible.

also, you could get this for the same price:

tokai flying v

or the epiphone one

Like James, im not familiar with that model although, i do like its looks. Its something you would have to ask on the Tokai forum.

If it is a MIJ then i'd stick my neck out and say any MIJ Tokai is worth £250. In comparison, you would struggle to get a similar era Charvel or Ibanez for that money.

It reminds me of the Westone Bendmaster II I found at a thrift store for $44

That was my thinking, & with a potential discounted offer.

I was kinda concerned about the fractured finish but that could all be ok... I just don't know.

So I've now been given a counter offer of £190. Shall Is do it ?

I'm too hungover to think straight....

Considering it's a bit of a risk as to how good it really is, I don't think I would. Maybe offer back £180 and walk away if he doesn't take it.

Ok James, thanks... I'm taking into consideration what you've said.

I've been stung a few times in the last year on ebay so I'm gonna pass on it.

I would rather buy direct in person if possible.

Owen- I never thought before but the Jackson PS2 NickS is selling in Classifieds is a MIJ model and way cheaper. Probably a safer bet than buying this Tokai as well.
