Today Matt got the body of his USA Special Telecaster back from the body shop, now refinished in metallic navy blue (black scratchplate). Putting strings on and trying to check the neck alignment, he realised for the first time that on his maple-fretboard neck, the two dots at fret 12 are not evenly spaced in from the edges. That was a WTF moment.

If you look at pics of my strat, it's out of alignment too.

Everything should line up. We are talking Fender here and we have been charged Fender money. If I bought a Westfield guitar for £120 I would turn a blind eye but with Fender I expect precision, even with inlays.

The strings don't go over the polespieces on the higher strings on the neck and middle pickups. More so on the neck.

on my squier classic vibe neck, on the 15th fret, it's missing the side dot all together.
