Gibson UK asked The Afterparty what guitars they'd like to borrow to take on tour.
Matt went for this:

Ooh i can just discern a hint of ankle there! If only I could tell what all of it looked like in a full frontal!

So Gibson UK gave them a fender style guitar?

Odd...BUT VERY COOL. Must be exciting for him!

From what I can remember of 5 minutes Internet research last night (read: Wikipedia) I gather they were an independent 2-man operation who grew a reputation, sold half the company to Samick in the 80s, didn't like the way it went and went to work for Gibson. Some time around 2003? Gibson bought the name and they operate as a Nashville-based semi-custom-shop/arm's length division.

For looks I prefer Matt's blue refin Tele with the black guard, not so keen on the bling. I don't think I'll get to play it as they were in Preston last night, Aberdeen tonight, etc. and he's back in work on Tuesday. I'm not sure whether the bling is standard, whether it's all Gibson had or whether his mates in The Afterparty are taking the piss again like they did when they picked out a Goddess for him for the "Liar, Liar" video.
