Mustang/duosonic body swap

A few years ago I built this warmoth mustang because I wanted a contour body:

But i just can’t get along with a mustang trem. So I decided I wanted a hardtail mustang/duosonic. So I swapped bodies with my Squier bullet, which has contours and a hardtail bridge from Plopswagon.

Looks green in the pic but it’s sonic gray. Not sure if I should swap the knobs for black ones or keep the white. I had to enlarge the swimming pool route to make room for switches.

Looks great - I would keep the white (personally I would want to see how it looks with all black plastics, but since those are Lace Sensors I'm guessing that's not an option)

God, I would do nasty things for a Sonic Grey mustang body. Looks great!

Thanks! The pickups are indeed Lace Sensors, so the covers are glued on. The switches are white too. A black or tort pickguard would look great with the white pickups and switches but I think the mint guard looks best on the sonic grey. Might be able to paint the pickups black as they look sealed, but I don’t think there’s a way around replacing the switches entirely if I want those to be black too. But I’m too cheap and lazy to wire up a new set of switches.

I looked for a long time online to try and find just the body of a bullet mustang, but they were rare and always overpriced. In late 2022 I got a complete new Bullet Mustang on sale from a Canadian retailer for stupid money… like $175 Canadian dollars or something around there. Totally worth it. I bought it with the sole intention of harvesting the body for my Warmoth mustang neck but I kept it integral for two years as I experimented with different humbuckers. I’ve harvested the body now, and if the Squier sonic mustangs hadn’t done away with body contours I’d have bought one of those to tinker with too.

Thanks! Your bridge plate is perfect. I love it so much more than a boring square strat hardtail bridge.

Looks great! The color of the maple neck in that picture matches perfectly. Any interest in selling the Warmoth body? I've been wanting to try an Mustang again.

Looks great, a Duo II/hardtail Mustang has always been a dream guitar of mine and I love the Laces too.
