I bought one of these when they first came out, But it was sent to an address I hadn't had in about 10 years ( I have no fucking idea why) it definitely made it that building. I saw proof of that, but I never got it, since I was 3 hours away.
locally(within 90 mins) one popped up for sale so I had to jump on it, at 300 bucks with a gig bag and the o.g. shipping case, absolutely!
I oiled the board, tweaked the neck, and set the intonation. I have been a BIG jazz bass person ever since I saw geezer Butler fucking slaying on one in a clip from the 60's. And I have had my 99 Mexican jazz bass, since. 99. I have tried a p-bass, its ok, tried a mustang bass, its alright. When these came out I loved the idea of a Jaguar "esque" shape

I thought of selling my Jag-Stang for one of those or a Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII when I was in the hospital a couple years back. Never got rid of the JS and never even played a Rascal.

I believe you made the right choice. I have one of those squier jazzy XII strings. and its cool, I like it and everything. but I don't use it NEARLY enough. I honestly don't think I have picked it up and played it in over 2 years.
Its a sweet guitar, and if I didn't have one, I would be looking at buying one, just to have, just in case....

These are so cool. I’ve played 2 in-shop and quite like them. The original Fender Rascals really call to me with the lipstick pickups, but these Squiers with the buckers really growl

oh damn, 10 years? that isn't an exaggeration? Im not sure what the longest I have gone without touching an instrument. maybe 3-4 years, sometimes it just takes a new set of strings and an afternoon to fall in love with an instrument again.

I think it has been 10 years because that was about when I moved to my current house and I remember I was in the old one when I dropped 500k pots and a Dimarzio SD in the guitar.
I have way too many guitars and legit haven’t played the Jag-Stang in ages. It’s even still packed up to ship out since the last time I listed it on eBay which was almost 2 years ago when I first got diagnosed with a medical issue. My JB Jr’d Jaguar on the other hand is on a stand next to my bed and I’ll probably ask to be buried with it.

I did run the rascal for practice/rehearsal/whatever the fuck you call it. And it feels great! doesn't kill my back like my jazz basses do. It FEELS very comfortable to me standing up, which is can be important when staring at the fretboard isn't an option. I was able to easily adapt from playing my normal jazz bass to this, where in the past I had trouble switching between a mustang bass and my jazz bass. The balance threw me off, and the scale/how it fit around me took more getting used to than I would have liked.

Ordered the XII today for my birthday next week

HELL YEA ON THE 12! its a heavy fucking guitar, just be warned. I honestly have not stood up and played more than maybe 3 songs or 15 mins.

I heard that, but as long as it isn’t heavier than my MIK Epi LPC I’ll be fine. I might luck out and get one closer to 7lbs than 8+, which seems to be the weight range on the YouTube demos I’ve watched that weighed it. Also I have an alder Jaguar I’m pretty used to.

Im sure it is lighter than your average Les Paul, and definitely lighter than a Norlan era L.P.
It is balanced, before I go any further I do want to say that it does feel balanced. the extra jag/jazz body helps offset the cockstock weight.
Did you ever get a chance to play any of the Japanese 12 string starts fender did in the.... 90s(?)
I remember playing one and it FELT neck heavy, like a Gibson s.g. does with neck dive.
these don't have that same feel, which is good. I keep putting mine up for sale, and then taking it down. Im going to take it to a guitar show in a couple of weeks, maybe I will trade it for something else, but I'm sure I will come back home with it. Like I sorta said, If I ever do sell it, I will regret it.

Never tried a Strat XII but always wanted to.
I’ve never found modern Les Pauls to be that heavy. Teles are a similar weight to my “Swiss cheese” weight relief Standard from 2005. The Epi has no weight relief and is heavier than the Gibson.

Edit- My JM XII clocked in at exactly 8lbs, which is .6 pounds lighter than my Jaguar.
