NGD Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII

Got this delivered today. First impressions are good, not too heavy and solid tuners. There are a couple of hairline finish cracks by the neck pocket but you really have to be looking for them with this finish so I don’t care, everything is solid.

Looks like someone at CME or Squier already had a go at intonation so I’ll just lower the action a tad.

Love the tort on this guitar, it’s the kind of tort I’d have sought out if it looked shitty. Also love how the pots have solid shafts and the knobs have set screws.

It plays pretty nice and sounds good, hot bridge pickup (quite tame-able with the tone knob) and all. I don’t think I’ll be changing anything about it for awhile.

Looks great in the white - mine is the LP blue with too-green mint guard, I absolutely love the neck but the tuners are a bit rattly. The pickups are absurdly hot, and when you add 12 strings driving them, it's pretty massive output. Even with a pretty mild overdrive or fuzz it quickly becomes one of the heaviest tones in my collection, which is absolutely not what I expected from a 12 string Jazzmaster, of all things. Anyway have fun!

Thanks Matt, been having a blast with it all day.

I hear ya on the pickups but probably won’t use it with any dirt beyond what my Marshall 1959, which is never that clean, does to it. So far I’ve only played it through my Vibro Champ XD but my brother has sent me a Behringer Fuzz Bender so we’ll see this weekend. I might swap out the bridge pickup if I encounter any problems.
Thankfully my tuners aren’t rattly as I can’t afford to replace them.

Nice, but I can't justify buying one. I'll stick with the Baldwin/Burns Double Six.

Congrats - I have one in the same color combo, I agree with Mattk about the pickups being too hot, but I also suspect the heavyish stock strings are partly to blame. I might try switching to the ernie ball 8-40 set before replacing the pickups

I picked one of those up too! I made a MOP guard for it, told myself I would be using it. I don't think its clocked more than a few hours in over 2 years.
I don't even have enough time playing it to know if the pups are super hot or not, but I believe I have heard that complaint before.

It looks super classy! I'd love me a 12 string someday

The TriSonic pickups sound great but I think the fully intonatable bridge on the reissues was an upgrade.
