Thanks Dave for bumping this one. Really enjoyable read and excellent restoration.

Re: Jazzmaster VI

Thanks all.

Ankhanu - just the standard rhythm circuit for now. I was considering going with one of the mods but figured I'd start stock and see how it is. It works quite well so far. Rhythm circuit gives more of a bass tone and the regular one gives more of a baritone sort of feel.

Jazzmaster VI

This one is a long, long time in the making. I was itching for a Bass VI back when I was more active on the board and the only options were vintage, custom shop, or a hard to obtain MIJ. In the end I thought why not try and build a Jazzmaster VI and commissioned the body to be built and ordered a ...

Mclusky pedalboards

I saw Mclusky in Cardiff at the weekend and managed to snap a couple of photos of their boards. It may well not be news, but it turns out Falco is now using a Harmonic Percolator made by Frederic Effects of this parish. A quick google suggests its a recent addition but the rest have been on the ...

Black and tort is always a classy combo. Lovely guitar.

Though now I am picturing a (fully dressed) woman in black hareem trousers, a pattern red silk shirt and privacy bar sunglasses.

Re: NGD: One guitar to rule them all

Roughly 3.6kg/8lbs

I don't have much reference to that but a google suggests it's typical Strat weight and a couple of lb lighter than a typical Les Paul.

I've always loved the Iceman. Absolute class looking guitar. Embrace it (though not too intimately, that lower horn is a bit sharp).

NGD: One guitar to rule them all

I'm having a bit of a gear cabinet reshuffle , trying to get rid of a bunch of stuff and simplify. Guitar-wise I'm planning on dropping to a 6 string acoustic and a 6 string electric. The acoustic I already have but I wasn't really sure what I was aiming for other than something versatile. Read ...

Re: After some new guitar inspiration

That looks like a lovely pair. There's a lot to be said for getting gear the other half approves of.

Have you set the Marshall for maximum crunch and throw down some Back in Black on the SG yet?

Re: After some new guitar inspiration

I've always liked the idea of a birth year guitar for a birthday purchase. If you're struggling to find options on the market as is, that would probably be an unnecessary constraint but you could potentially find something in the sort of 'affordable vintage' category if you were willing to look ...

My 2 current electrics, Coronado II and Ibanez 2344 Melody Maker. Just got the P90 put into the Ibanez, custom made locally with no cover, based on the Lollar Melody Maker P90. (also new amp, I like it).

Am I right in thinking those are both previous of ...

Re: After some new guitar inspiration

On the semi acoustic front and a more budget friendly option - I bet this with some new pickups (and tuners if needed) would still be a bargain and punch well above its weight.

Re: After some new guitar inspiration

Reading through the thread Rob I think you'll come to regret that Epi as your 40th birthday choice. There's definitely a bit of nostalgia creeping in and that feels like it will be a lower quality replacement for that white Tokai. Even if you managed to find one of your old guitars I fear there's a ...

Awesome first post and great looking guitar.

I don't suppose you could do a version of the scatter diagram with different coloured dots for the four different colours?

It looks quite boring and blocky to me, more a cross between a Mustang and one of these, than a cross between a Mustang and a Jaguar.

This bassists Bass V looking bass is more interesting.
