Fender is going Warmoth with this one.

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

Fender is going Warmoth with this one.

The selection is a little thin but the price is right! $199 for finished necks, $169 for finished bodies, plus the option of getting the more upscale USA-stuff... I bet Warmoth is shitting their pants.

Never thought I'd see the day. However I don't think Warmoth is going to take a dent at all. I bet the $199 necks are the Chinese made ones that come on the lowest end Fender guitars these days...which I might add, are entirely underwhelming, to me at least. Might as well buy Mighty Mite for half the price. And the USA necks are $499, WTF. I would rather pay half that price to get a Warmoth neck custom built to my specs. Still pretty cool, I wonder if we'll start seeing Fender necks and bodies in the accessory department at GC...and if they'll be any cheaper.

I would assume that they are MIM, since they look almost exactly like MIM stuff. As for how the lower end stuff compares with Mighty Mite, I don't think most All Parts and Mighty Mite stuff for half the price are finished, are they?

warmoth still offers a better service.

Fender's customization options are weak as fuck and you can buy new MIM shit off ebay all day long for much cheaper.

I've heard some speculating that this is to shut down chop shops like The Stratosphere.

This could also cut down on counterfeiters too.

I don't think this is meant to compete with the partscaster market as much. I think the prices are fair enough that if someone had bought a new MIM or USA Fender, and changed their mind about their choice of color or fretboard, they could justify a couple hundred bucks on a brand new part straight from the factory knowing that hasn't already been bolted to a guitar yet in its life. The type of consumer who only takes their car to the dealer for maintenance does exist in the guitar market as well, even though many online forums are largely made up of those with a more DIY mentality.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. I got into an argument over a 1969 Pro Reverb which the seller listed as "all original", because he had replaced the original Fender branded Jensen speakers with new Fender branded Eminence speakers. He insisted since he had used original Fender parts, it was all original... I told him to piss off.

Ironically, there's another on available now on the market for $270 which I'm tempted to buy.

fender has done this before.
At school my teacher had a box that once held an unfinished strat body from the factory, said it was almost 20 years old by the time he got it, but on the box it clearly stated. "unfinsihed fender stratocaster body" and it had the big black fender logo on the top.
not sure how he got it, or why.(probly to make templates from) or even when exactly it was from, but it would seem that fender has done something like this before.
they have alot of u.s. stuff on there, necks and bodies. 400 for a finished strat body, no matter where its from is alot of dough, but... thats just my opinion.

Yeah dude, my first "Fender frontline" mag had a bodies and necks section. That was somewhere around 04.

Ok, dudes. I just did an ebay search, and all the bodies were pretty comparable. Seeing the prices, I'm actually considering replacing a tele body with one of those white MIMs. $170 is quite a bit less than my time and materials to refinish mine.

Personally I think this is a great option, I just hope that Fender expands the list to include short scale guitars. Roughly two years ago I purchased a used Jaguar Classic player, from Guitar Center. for a great price, Unfortunately the neck had a severe up bow and the truss rod was broken, so my only viable option was a replacement neck. First I bought a neck from Warmoth that was great except for the awful glowing banana yellow color, so I returned it. I ended up buying a neck from a parted out Jaguar off of ebay and paid considerably more than $199.00.

Some of the prices are a bit much. It seems like certain colors are $100.00 more. They will probably sell a lot though. Glad they are finally doing this though.
