Replacement Nut for MIJ Jazzmaster

Post by 71Smallbox »

I need to replace the nut on my 93' Japanese Jazzmaster. Would a pre-cut one for a strat work as long as its the 7.25 radius? Should the bottom be flat or curved? I really have no clue and google searches keep churning up AI garbage suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I have no idea but you could try this one from GraphTech. If the nut slot is radiused, you just file down that thingy at the bottom

The bottom should indeed be curved, as the channel in the fingerboard still has a radius of 7.25”.
At least that’s the way it’s been on all the Fender and AllParts Fender-licensed necks I’ve put a new nut in. Just be thankful it’s not a Jaguar, those can be annoying to replace. Just check the width dimensions and string spacing if it’s pre-slotted.
