Musicmaster Bass project

Post by holyCATS1415 »

Robert(OG) gave me this 70’s musicmaster bass neck 10 (possibly 15 years ago). The frets had been taken out and it was in pretty rough shape. Since then I’ve moved it across the country twice thinking I’d get to it eventually. FINALLY got around to putting it to use. I refretted it and filled the missing chunks in the fretboard, bought a bronco bass body off of reverb for cheap, a mint musicmaster bass pickgaurd for not so cheap, wound up a 50’s style tele bass pickup for it and set it up with some flat wound strings.

I wish I’d finished this project 10 years ago! Really fun bass to play

The re fret wasn’t too bad, I’ve done a bunch of them in the past. Had to be pretty careful with the fret saw though, the fretboard is pretty thin. Just enough room for the fret tang without cutting all the way through to the maple. If you have a nice sharp saw recutting the slots isn’t too bad.
