A dude selling an Squier-Parts guitar (advice)

Post by izodiak »

There is this guy in my country, on facebook marketplace selling this guitar

In his description he is saying like it has some G&B Humbucker's and
"It's definitely not a Fender custom shop - partscaster - assembled from various parts.
But the neck is nice and high quality, made in Indonesia, if I remember correctly from Classic Vibe, but with Fender lettering."

like there is an changed sticker, as I suppose.

Im just thinking is it worth 190eur (224$) if I can get an new Squier Sonic Mustang for 166eur (195$)
And are the updates real or no. Just thinking, because seems like a nice price. Could make some mods ? Change the pup's maybe.

Whats Your suggestion, never owned an Mustang.

I would try and knock him down to at least the Squier Sonic mustang price. I think that's a Squier classic vibe decal on the back of the headstock. Looks like it has a rosewood fretboard, which is nice on a cheap guitar these days, but paying more than a new Squier for a parts squire with decent pickups seems like a lot.

it's honestly hard for me to say anymore what a "good" price is for gear like this since costs have gone so batshit the last 5 years or so.

around $200 USD seems ok to me, you'd pay at least half that or more for the neck if it's in decent shape.

Thanks for the advice.
Im just thinking is the neck from Classic Vibe, because in that case its a pretty good price.
And what are the G&B Humbuckers (theyr some korean company, do all cheapo squiers have them?)

I suppose. :P

But ya, I think Im going to meet up the guy and play it a bit.
Got the moneyz. Maybe my christmas gift.

Looks like a Sonic body, which is thinner than a standard Mustang.

Looks like a cheeky Fender Custom Shop decal on the back of the headstock, not a Classic Vibe one which looks like this

Guarantee you that's just a straight up Sonic Mustang with the pickguard changed and the headstock sanded for new decals front and back. The neck is identical to a Sonic, and the Classic Vibe necks have a deeper amber tint which would still be on the heel etc. "Parts guitar" my ass, just a cheap Mustang, which might be excellent but just admit it's the cheapest Mustang model.
