*New Baritone Ukulele Day

I was waiting in line at Goodwill to buy a DVD and my wife walked up to me holding this baritone uke she found for $6.99. I guess I missed it when shopping because it was hiding under a pillow or something

Other than strings and a small bit of grime and surface mold, it's in amazing condition. Flat top, straight neck, good action.

Google lens seems to think it's a 1950's Favilla, it looks like there was a shield shaped logo on the headstock at one point but can't find any matches.

Currently pending strings

After asking r/ukulele on reddit, it seems to be a match for a mid 60's Vega....made in Boston, MA, they did manufacture for other brands, so it's very likely the headstock used to have a lesser known brand's logo.

The one in that blog post sounds pretty good TBH, a bit more like a guitar than a regular uke.

Yeah, I didn't realize it but it's the same tuning as the top 4 strings on a guitar DGBE.

Strung up with Martin M630 strings, it plays and sounds great. Can't help feeling that I saved it from being mistaken for a cheap toy guitar.
