How do you bring the noise (mostly)?
Obviously I use bridge, both and neck in various songs but I would say that predominantly I am definitely a Bridge Single Coil player.
I like the spanky action you get with a clean sound and the aggressive tight overdrive sounds that can be attained with a good single coil in the bridge position

The one PUP on my guitar. I usually use the tone down position, which is darker.
On the off chance that I'm playing my mustang, it's usually both at once. The 335 I use neck for rhythm and bridge for lead. I'm not playing those much ATM.
I've been experimenting with amp settings so I can use the U1s for my band stuff as well. The biggest challenge has been keeping the strummed sound from getting clangey - I think I'm getting closer to the right balance of treble and mids to make it work.
Anyhoo, Neck PUPs all the way.

I'm surprised at the number of neck users. I find you can't do Brutal Weepy Indie Rock Chording with a neck pickup and retain any clarity.
I'm using the both position on my Jaguar a bunch at the moment, but I still reach for that bridge pickup - then again I am partial to guitars with broad-sounding bridge pickups with a healthy tight bass response.

I use the bridge humbucker on the Jagmaster for high gain, which is probably 80% of my parts whith the band.
The medium and low gain stuff, I generally play trough the middle pickup on The Cyclone II with the volume knob set halfsies.

I like the bass you get in the neck it makes things bigger and badder, I guess because I play with myself (ooohahah) with no bass and band to accompany me. If I was in a band I may use the bridge more. dunno. having said that every pmt/combolikerambo/saline stuff I normally use the neck too and that is with band. I dunno if I get mixed to sound like a brighter bridge sound though.

it's really depends on the guitar i'm using.
the goldtop's p90's tend to buzz a little if there on their own, so tend to use both on, switching to bridge for crunchier rhythm and leads and neck for slide.
the les paul custom is normally bridge pickup, for the punky or ac/dc kinda stuff. i use the neck for the womanz tonez ala doog lol.
the strat is really strange, i tend to only use either the neck or the bridge. never really use the in between or middle positions much. the neck is very warm sounding, but with enough bite for lead work. the bridge pickup verges into humbucker territory, it's a really fat sounding pickup.

There's something very tight and reedy sounding about the inbetween strat settings that just irritate me.Progrockabuse wrote:the strat is really strange, i tend to only use either the neck or the bridge. never really use the in between or middle positions much. the neck is very warm sounding, but with enough bite for lead work. the bridge pickup verges into humbucker territory, it's a really fat sounding pickup.
For me, neck single when clean or heavily fuzzed, bridge single for overdriven.
