Most shredders are tastefull, its an old concept that they all look like Malmsteen wailing away with a Floyd Rose. Its actually a shame a lot of people dismiss these players as arrogant fret wanking tossers.

Anyway, seems the right thread to enjoy some EVH, another 'humble' shredder...

no, it's because every time i see him do anything i just think he comes across as a dick. paul gilbert shreds just as fast but always seems like a really nice guy and actually wants to show you how to get better at playing. vai is a bit on the pretentious side, EVH would stand you a drink or ten, petrucci would talk for five minutes about amps, then run away and practice alternate picking for six hours, whilst malmsteen would whip out a piss coloured strat, play THE SAME FUCKING ARPEGGIO really, really fast, then proceed to bore the pants off everyone by proclaiming how great he is. in his opinion.

somone gave me a malmsteen lesson video where he shows off some of his licks and runs and stuff. It's so terrible, he is shit ant explaning what he's doing and basically just plays each thing slow and then fast and says yeah do that. It was lame. He is an amazing playes and a guitar acrobat. Anyone who says he isn't a musician and just plays fast doens't really know much about music composition and theory though. these guys all really know their shit
