I think that's because Fender just happens to make 95% of the common short scale guitars.
oh ok, we are in the "new breed" section, yea, I guess this is for fenders. I think the general shortscale pics thread would be "yer pictars". I don't think there's any hard and fast rules about it though.

I figured it's a 'new breed' because it's recent and non-traditional. If it was a single coil and trem equipped traditional style short scale, I'd stick it the 'yer pictars'.
whoa, I never noticed that crazy gretsch style bridge on there. still IMO, if you took that tailpiece thing off of there and just threw it away, that guitar would look a million times better.

I totally agree, except it's not feasible, without adding a stopbar. I might end up taking it off and painting it gloss black to match the body.
That Jetking is sexy. Before I got my Jagmaster I was stuck between it and a Jetking, only the Jagmaster was a shortscale, so I got it. Then the ORM came out and made my Jagmaster sort of obsolete.

hm? I don't get it, do the strings not run through the body?

They do run through, and the metal piece is what retains them in place. Remove the metal piece, the strings aren't stopped by anything, so you'd need to add a stopbar or the ends of the strings would just be loose.
That natural finished one is pretty nice. I sorta wanna refinish mine in seafoam green.
