That is awesome that they lowered their prices... last time I looked SG standards were selling for something like $1600... that's ridiculous. Now the price is closer to what it was 5 years ago when I bought mine. The SG special is a damn good deal now!
So, fender bumps prices by nearly 50% on most models(atleast to ones that I care about anyway), and gibson cuts back around 30% on SGs. I think Gibson is actually trying to sell guitars.
It's still a little odd. I could go out and buy an SG Special for what, $699 now? Or I could buy an Epiphone G-400 for $350, and if I really wanted to, spend $150-170 (at most) on Gibson Pickups and slap 'em in there. I don't think I'm wrong.
Although I have to say, Squier > Epiphone at the moment. Wider range of awesome.
