Carlsbro or not?

Post by laamaposse »

Flea market next door is selling this...
Carlsbro Top 50 Combo
...for 400€, is there any sense buying it with that price?

Seems original and is in pretty good condition.

Not the best price in the world, but they're great little amps, by all accounts.

we used to use a very old carlsbro combo for vocals, that thing was built like a tank. but 400 for a carlsbro seems a bit much though, i think we got that combo for 100 euro or but i don't know the model you're talking about

I've used an old Carlsbro tube head before and it sounded awesome. Plus, you can get some weird lofi distortion if you mess with the EQ enough. I'm guessing this combo will be pretty similar.

The Carlsbro factory is near where i live, so there has always been plenty of Carlsbro stuff around here.
A lot of it is average but i'd say the Top 50 is one of Carlsbros best moments. It was re-issued not long ago, i know a blues guitarist from Sheffield that tours rigorously with his.. he swears by it.

Its not bargain of the year but seems reasonable for a good 50w Valve Combo.

if you ever visit the hot rox shop in nottingham city centre, one of the main demo amps is a top 50 head. sounds really nice through a greenback 2x12

I had an old Carlsbro 50w 1x12 combo years ago which was great too, the Top 50 was the flagship model though.

They did a 100 Top head as well. I used to have an old 70's one, it was really fucking loud.
