That post wasn't there when I started doing my searches for "Garage Tone guitar making" and digging through results, and I hit reply when I was done about 10 minutes later.

That guy is awesome, and his prices are fantastic. He already got back to me discussing my rather odd request. I really just have to decide whether to have the tailpiece routed as a Jaguar trem or have him do nothing but mark it and I'll install a proper TOM bridge/tailpiece.

Ah, so he's the one behind Primal Scream's charming P90'd monstrosity. I tend to fancy that side of him (along with his work for Belinda) over some of his more daring creations. That is, of course, unless I moved to the Midwest and rocked out regularly with a laser light show along with TEH SLONZ.

Needs grain filler and sanding, but it's cool to have it. It feels very comfortably shaped, perhaps moreso than the typical Mustang body.

well, finally found a neck for a decent price. it's from a 1972 musicmaster. I actually just paid for it today, so won't likely have it until next week. but here's the seller's link for photos: here

Pros:
-vintage 'mojo'
-already finished
-don't have to bother with getting a nut cut (hopefully)
-cheap ($160 shipped)
Cons:
-vintage 'fretwear'
-CBS era's dubious quality control (doubtful that it's an issue)

worst case scenario, i can probably flip it on ebay for about the same or slightly more than I bought it for and get another neck. I guess I opted for getting a vintage neck for all the pros, as well as saving a bit of money in regards to the tuners, finishing, and nut work pricing.

if 1972 is even considered vintage

The remaining expenses:
-Mustang pickguard
-bridge pickup (possibly a SC-sized humbucker)
-electronics (pots, shielding, cap, jack)
-grain filler
-primer
-paint
(please let me know if you have any of the above and are willing to sell for sorta cheap)

I think the industry has deemed pre 1980 to be vintage

while most define "Vintage" to be anything from 1940s to 1979, technically i think its anything that is over 25 years old.
So [to date] vintage can be defined as anything made prior to 1985, crazy stuff

Great deal on that neck! A quick fret-leveling should fix the dents. Often times they'll look bad but its only a hair deep.
