That's an old Teisco Gold Foil pickup. They're real grindy, woody, twangy sounding things. They came in some Zen-Ons and Kents as well.Ty wrote:Sparky, what in the world do you have the neck position? It looks so cool, like something out of an "end of the world death fight with scrap metal armor" kind of movie. (can't think of an example of a film like that at the moment)
if by more info you mean no info then you're bang on.Noirie. wrote:An old Guyatone. Theres more info on Hurb's shortscale wiki page.
i don't know anything about it except it was hurb's, then nickD's, then hurb's again and now mine. 'tis a mid/late 70s (i think) guyatone.
the chicken head knob is a varitone and that little switch next to the jack switches it so all the positions on the varitone except the first and last ones are different. i have not looked at the wiring on the varitone but i imagine that it's pretty crazy in there.
it sounds like a notch filter type thing sweeping from low mids to higher mids on different positions on the knob. with the little switch down it sounds like a boost and switch up a cut.
first position is bypassed and the last position is some weird battery dying slightly distorted 1960s holes in the speaker sound, independent of the switch.
Thanks guys! The clearcoats cured nicely and it's definitely darker in person so I'm quite satisfied myself now. I was going for that deep space look - what distant galaxies look like from far away. Trimmed the whole thing in gold too. I did the whole thing myself and I did it after a good wake&bake sesh.scandoslav wrote:+1 It's beautiful.

That's a Teisco gold foil pickup from that project guitar I got from my gf's dad. Finished wiring it up earlier tonight and remembered that those things are reverse polarity (or is it phase) so when I have the switch in the middle position it quacks. It'll be fine. I'll make a thread about it tomorrow with a sample.
Edit: The old look. I absolutely LOVE LOVE this pickguard. Actually "met" the guy who made it on etsy and came close to collaborating with him. Thought about doing the new pickguard like that, but figured fuck it. Why have two of the same thing?

Oops. I thought there was a fair bit of info about it on there.Reece wrote:if by more info you mean no info then you're bang on.Noirie. wrote:An old Guyatone. Theres more info on Hurb's shortscale wiki page.
Suppose the varitone is more useable than a standard tone knob, eh? Might try fit one on the venus...

90s U2 model (i think), i got it in a trade. I like it but dont know if i'd gig it, the bridge seems fragile. Its in reasonable condition except one odd machine head which is a Gibson deluxe kluso (plastic button).

really nice. i always think you're going to have this proper, dainty voice because you're such a big strong man, but you have a friggin' mazin lumberjack voice like the angel from dogma.Progrockabuse wrote:that's sounds amazing fran. i need that guitar, always had a thing for the 90's danos in that blue colour.Fran wrote:No pics but thought this is just as good.
