Dimarzio Pickups

Gimme a good combination of pickups that i can use for bridge and neck pos.
I dont need any other recommendations than dimarzio pickups..
Humbucker in single coil size recommendations?

I've only played the area 51 pickups in a strat. Most unimpressive unfortunately
oh, and a X2N but that's terrible and humbucker sized

Dimarzio HS-3s are great single-sized HBs. Got a single coil kinda sound in my Strat and been using them for 16 years. Amusingly they are beloved of Yngwie Malmsteen. You can hear them in action on my Great Destroter Demo on youtube. At work so can't link right now. Just search 'gread destroyer pedal thelastguitarist'.

I've heard pickups referred to as guitar mics before. Hell, I've heard turntable cartridges referred to as mics before.

well.. i like the design of the pickups, the sound, and all my favorite guitarist uses them.. thats why..

i think you only had a bad experience with them.. overall i think dimarzio have the best sound.. but thats just my opinion...

Ok, it sounds a little like you have taken offense to a completely reasonable question. Fair enough.

I only asked the question in order to determine exactly why you were limiting yourself to a single pickup maker when there are hundreds to choose from. I assumed you had a reason and was curious to know what it was. Maybe it is because you are only able to find Dimarzio pickups locally, I don't know, that's why I asked.

I use the things that I use because I have carefully researched all of the available options and decided what will best serve my purpose. That is why I use the things that I use.

Basically, my point is that anything you want out of a Dimarzio I'm sure you can find someone who does it better for (roughly) the same price.

I have played some AWFUL Dimarzio pickups. My first guitar ever, a Guild S-60D, had Dimarzio single coils and they were bright, terrible, and shrill. No character, only ice pick.

Are you sure you are totally dead set on Dimarzios?

i've had a super distortion and a YJM (which is apparently now called a HS-4).

both decent enough although i felt like they were lacking a little bit.

DiMarzios have never ever sat well with me. They're terrific if you want that gross compressed scooped middy metal tone.

However, sticking to only one brand puts you at a big disadvantage when it comes to options. Especially when that brand is DiMarzio.

I had a JEM a few years ago. I returned it the next day.

it lacks bass, which was never much of an issue through the TT. now with the bugera i can tell a little more.

That has been my issue with any Dimarzio pickups I have ever played, they seem to be shrill and sterile. No real character.
