Hey guys,

Looking for some info here. I'm going to buy my bass player's old bass. it's a B.C Rich with a p and j pickup with a toggle for each pickup. I need to know what kind of pots and caps I need to rewire this thing. I'm not a bass player, so I don't really know anything about the kind of electronics that go into these things as far as values and such. I'm looking to replace the pots, caps, jacks and pickups. If anyone can shed some light on what I need, it'd be much appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Fender uses 250k pots and 0.047mfd caps for both J and P basses. You can find a ton of wiring diagrams here: LANK

Yup. 250s with .047

Don't be afraid of different values... I replaced the 250ks in my my P-bass copy with 500k and it sounds pretty nice

It seems like 500k's would be way better for not cutting out a ton of bass? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly, it's not a HUGE difference... and I can't say how much was due to the pots and how much due to changing the pickup at the same time. The bass is more articulate now though, still with plenty of bottom end.

For pickups, I would recommend the Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound P and J pickup set. I have this in my MIM jazz bass and I love it! It cuts through very well in every setting I've used it in.

Kinda depends on the sound you want.

On my Aerodyne Jazz bass, I intend to replace the pickups with a Seymour Duncan Hot Jazz and Vintage P. The 1/4 Pounders are pretty solid too, though.

haha. bass pickups are just like guitar. there are SO many options. And a lot of them are good options too.

I would go with Lindy Fralins if I was looking at replacing mine. they sound REALLY good.
