Thoughts on the Jaguar bass...

I think a lot of peoples beef with it here is that it is not short scale like the Jag and it doesn't have binding on the neck which some people think look weird with blocks.

Personally, I'm not a fan of short scale basses. I think they feel like a guitar and that is not what I want when I play bass. I want to feel like I'm playing a bass. I understand I'm probably the minority on a short scale forum but for me, basses HAVE to be full scale.

With all of that said, I also don't mind the lack of binding. At first, I thought that it sucked but you get used to it. And no one other than a few people ever notice. I absolutely love mine. I've played a lot of basses, mainly being a bass player, and I have never played a bass as versatile as the Jaguar bass.

they're great instruments. the sound is amazing, and i actually like the way they look. when the lack of binding was pointed out to me, i was like. . . uh, yeah i guess, but i'm such a huge fan of jags anyway, that it really doesn't take away from it.

Not read the thread but i played with an Italalian band tonight called 'Zippo' that are signed, their bassist had the red Jag Bass (with block inlays), it had a good sound, a bit like a Jazz to my ears. He was pulling off a lot of Tool style basslines very impressively and it cut through well with two guitarists. Also, nice looking thing obviously.

I've said the same thing . They are practically a Jazz bass with more bells and whistles IMO. And I mean that in a good way .

i remember playing one two or three years ago and i liked the neck, but after playing a stingray and before that, a j-bass, i found it too thin for my taste
