Aye they’re excellent wee guitars, everyone always goes on about the finish (which isn’t great) but if they took the time to actually play one they’d realise what they were missing out on (a Les Paul junior junior).portugalwillie wrote:I just bought a Melody Maker for a back up guitar to my Jazzmaster and it is awesome! Love the guitar

Cheers, my first decent guitar. I’ve bought and sold a lot of guitars over the years but that one will never be sold (due to my immense sentimentality).mrperson wrote:That epiphone is absolutely gorgeous

This is the good part, they are on Thomann for £153James wrote:I used my mod powers to edit it so it is. I sort of wish I hadn't now.Fran wrote:Pic not showing up Nick.![]()
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price was your BC Rich Fran? It looks class. I love the neck/body join.
my local store is BCR dealer and he said they must be selling them at a loss. They usually retail over £400, in fact, you can't buy bolt on model for £153 on eBay. Not new.
Needless to say, I couldn't help myself at that price.
Nick. That is sick. Love it.

You cant go wrong James, srsly. I mentioned the model on the BCR forum thinking there was a 'catch' but apparently the only misleading information is its a quilted maple top not birds eye maple, its also a veneer not a cap like on the originals (its Chinese btw but they have stepped up their game immensely over the last few years as we all know). They also said Thomann do these one-off's from time to time much to my local dealers fury. Come christmas they may be £300. Shipping is 10 euro's (no import fee) and it arrived in 4 days, excellent service.
Thing is, its easy to dismiss BCR through association and the ridiculous models with the awful 'widow' headstock but the 'classics' are just that. They can be what you want them to be, like this dude, his friend fitted some P90 flavor humbuckers on this...

Although I love the way the neck meets the body, that's actually part of the problem. I'm trying to avoid buying any guitars that aren't bolt-on because they'd be a hassle to take with me when I go to America so will likely have to be sold here. A bolt on I can take apart and pack in with clothes and whatever else. If it wasn't for that I'd probably go for it. It's silly cheap.
I played quite a few 'metal' guitars in America and the thing I disliked about a lot of them was that the frets were just huge. Very wide and very high. It was almost like playing a scalloped neck. These look more reasonable.

Shabba.

Yeah, this is 'classic series' based on the late 70s Mockingbirds. Its more Gibson than Schecter Hellraiser as far as frets, feel and sounds are concerned.
Dammit James, i thought you was going to be my brethren here.
Two cases aint that bad right? Oh, Thomann send you a bottle of Pimms with the guitar as well.. did i forget to mention that?
