Need strat pickups, lacking funds

Post by finboy »

I got in my rocket tone phantom clone, and strung it up, I love playing this guitar but it needs pick ups.

Having never bothered with a strat, I have no idea what pick ups to look for. I have liked what gas has sent so far, but they have a lot of different strat pick ups. Does anyone know which of theirs sound good, or recommend some others on the cheap? Say, sub $75 for a set?

For less than $75 a set, the Fender Tex Mex pickups are the only ones you should even consider. They're very good AlNiCo single coil pickups you can find for $60 a set, don't know about Canada tho.

I have a couple sets of no names you can have one of the sets. One set is from my sx 24" scale strat and the other set is the no name high outputs that gfs sells. They both sound alright.

Thanks for the offer, but I got a set from eBay. After this I just need some oddball switches, jack, pot, etc.

GFS regular alnico set improves any ceramic-unit-loaded Strat x 2.
