Incredibly boring. They take the outline shape but just whack generic strat hardware on there so it will play and feel like hundreds of thousands of other guitars. The thing that really makes these old guitars is the unusual hardware and pickups.

You're kidding me! Did you really had Tonika? Old guitars have some value because of the original pickups, original design and original sound. For sure. But soviet guitars are not guitars at all. They are defense weapons and a nightmare of every guitarplayer from ex-USSR who played in a band from 70's till late 90's.
Why not just tool up the authentic styled hardware, instead of resorting to standard run of the mill stratocaster config? I know it's cheaper, but fuck I'm sick of seeing these companies comeback and resort to using strat configurations. Eko did this as well a few years back.
Fuck they could just use Guitar Fetish parts and get closer to the original look.
I understand there is an argument to be made about it being a popular set up, however it makes an otherwise unique guitar look very vanilla and cheaper somehow.
