Fancy graphic speaker grill replacement??

Post by Dave »

I remember seeing folks have put nice patterned or graphic fabric on their speaker cabs - looking for advice on fabric type and any feedback and advice on doing this. Want to make by Blackstar HT5 stack look FANCY.

I suspect that you won't find any good advice on this, and that people will be in two camps: those that fuss over the acoustic transparency of the fabric and those who say that it has no bearing. I think it's a niche enough project that there won't be enough evidence one way or the other.

I reckon you probably want some low density fabric, but I don't think you're going to have much choice.

I think if you're going to do this, you'll have to be guided by what looks cool. You'll probably lose some high end, but then a lot of these modern amplifiers have things called EQ sections which will allow you to put it back in.

I wouldn't fuss. Crack on with something cool then fix any problems with loudness.

Or google "patterned speaker cloth," like I just did. Custom stuff is cheaper than I thought.
