If it sets a precedent other manufacturers will just slightly change the shape of their guitars - most single cut LP style guitars have a subtly different shape now for similar reasons.

+1 on Doogs setup point, and have you tried lighter strings? I had hand issues, even as a hobby player when I used to use 11s on guitar. I switched to 9s and the problems went away.

D’Addario 9s. Changed very rarely. I used 11s for years but had some RSI issues that went away after switching to lighter strings.

I’d finish the ones you’re less likely to keep and then move on to the Guyatone and Hagstrom. Couldn’t you just replace the acrylic top on the Hagstrom?

It looks great. I often wish that I liked SGs, but they just feel too slim and flimsy to me. Sort of why I really fancy a Yamaha SG. But then I don't think that will do anything that my other humbuckered up guitars do.

I suppose I'm entirely missing the point of an SG. I want one that's more like ...

I had a mid 70s Musicmaster bass for a few years, and have played the Squier. I'd say the Squier played better - the 70s was not a great time for Fender QC.
